The American Heritage Patriots lost against the Somerset Academy Panthers back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. American Heritage took a serious blow against the Panthers, falling 70-36. While losing is never fun, American Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Panthers are ranked 85th).
American Heritage's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saeed Moghaddam Adames, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dia Bell, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Anthony Henderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Somerset Academy, scoring 22 points along with four steals. Henderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Xavier Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
American Heritage's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-8. As for Somerset Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
American Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. North Broward Prep will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Somerset Academy will take on the Bengals at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Piper's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
