Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Hawthorne Bears walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 34-9 margin over Hasbrouck Heights. The result was nothing new for Hawthorne, who have now won four matches by 25 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hawthorne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Menne, who threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Matthew Lorper, who picked up 122 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The win (which was Hawthorne's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Hasbrouck Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Hawthorne will face off against Mountain Lakes at TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Mountain Lakes is ranked 102nd, while Hawthorne is ranked 121st). Hasbrouck Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
