The Jefferson Blue Jays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 26 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 55-19 blowout they got at home against Kingston. With Jefferson ahead 32-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
It was another big night for Megan Wood, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Lia Ott was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Kingston, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Arcadia Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Arcadia Valley is on a three-game streak of home wins, Jefferson a three-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Kingston, they will head out on the road to face off against Crystal City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Crystal City is ranked 525th, while Kingston is ranked 535th).
