Gavin Nuckolls was his usual excellent self, throwing for 291 yards and four TDs while picking up 14.6 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. Northwest Whitfield's leading receiver Kade Mitchell was Nuckolls' top target yet again, picking up 142 receiving yards and three scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Northwest Whitfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 268 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, LaFayette was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Ridgeland 16-13.

LaFayette didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Andrew Huggins and Bryson Penson. Huggins is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.
LaFayette's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.3 points on average over those games. As for Northwest Whitfield, their record is now 5-1.
