The East Mecklenburg Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-35 defeat at the hands of Robinson. East Mecklenburg was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-5.
Despite the defeat, East Mecklenburg saw an underclassman step up: Jurnee Darling scored ten points along with four steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Robinson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Hobbs, who scored 21 points. The match was Hobbs' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Camri Hobbs, who scored 14 points.
East Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Robinson, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
East Mecklenburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face North Gaston at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (North Gaston is ranked 442nd, while East Mecklenburg is ranked 456th). Robinson won't have much time to rest: their next game is against West Cabarrus at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th.
