The Prairie View Thunderhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 77-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Range. While losing is never fun, Prairie View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Mountain Range is ranked 108th).
Prairie View's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Randall Rogos, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Javon Brewton, who scored 24 points.
Mataeo Jourdan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mountain Range, scoring 26 points along with two steals. Jourdan hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Quincy Helsel was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Prairie View's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Mountain Range, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Prairie View will be playing in front of their home fans against Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain Range, they will head out on the road to take on Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Legacy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Mountain Range likes a good challenge.
