The Timpview Thunderbirds will challenge the Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Timpview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Timpview is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Cottonwood just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Colts by a score of 7-6.
Will Cannon was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Timpview got a big performance out of Max Clark, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Elliot Myers, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Even though they lost, Timpview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Judge Memorial Catholic). They blew past American Leadership Academy 15-5 on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
Jeter Soto spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Miles Augustine was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Dominic Fassio was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Timpview's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-5.
Judge Memorial Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Timpview has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Judge Memorial Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Timpview's sizable advantage in that area, Judge Memorial Catholic will need to find a way to close that gap.
