After a string of six wins, the Denham Springs Yellowjackets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their tough 62-36 loss to Walker might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Denham Springs in their matchups with Walker: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Denham Springs lost, one person who can't be blamed is raegan white. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. White scored a full 41.7% of Denham Springs' points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Taylor Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Walker's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arionna Patterson, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Patterson set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Shantae Clay, who scored ten points along with six assists and five steals.
Denham Springs' loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Walker, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denham Springs' road trip will continue as they head out to face Amite at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Amite focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Walker, they will head out on the road to face off against Parkview Baptist at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkview Baptist is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
