Riverstone International has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Notus Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Riverstone International came up short against Garden Valley and fell 73-61.
Riverstone International's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jason Koval, who scored 27 points along with four steals. Koval hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Amer Sangha, who scored five points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Notus can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 75-23 victory over Centennial Baptist on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Notus has posted yet this season.
Notus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derrick Huter led the charge by scoring ten points along with six assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Huter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Benny Guevara, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Riverstone International's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. As for Notus, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Monday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Koval and Guevara. Koval has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 21.9 points, 2.3 steals, and 2.9 rebounds. For his part, Guevara has averaged 14.9 points, 2.5 steals, and 2.2 assists.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's match: Riverstone International have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 8.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Notus, though, as they've been averaging only 4.4 threes per game. Given Riverstone International's sizeable advantage in that area, Notus will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
