Ocean Springs and Gulfport are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Greyhounds will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Admirals at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Gulfport will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Ocean Springs extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Greyhounds blew past Biloxi 31-6. With the Greyhounds ahead 28-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Ocean Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanny Waltman led the charge by rushing for 72 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Waltman a new career-high. Solomon Baggett was another key back, rushing for 127 yards on only 12 carries.
Ocean Springs' run defense was locked in: Biloxi could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Santiago Gaetan for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ocean Springs didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.5.

Ocean Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Eli Chennault, Ayden Watson, and Lucas Sinopoli picked up one apiece. Watson is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Biloxi's side was Brody Saenz, who picked up a sack, made five total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended two passes.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gulfport). They claimed a resounding 53-13 win over Pascagoula. The victory continues a trend for the Admirals in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.
Ocean Springs better keep an eye on Cooper Crosby. He was instrumental in Gulfport's win, rushing for 90 yards and a pair of scores, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Ellison, who rushed for 57 yards and one TD.
Gulfport's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Deandre Williams was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself. Javon Anderson was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks, forcing two fumbles, and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Ocean Springs' win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Gulfport, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Ocean Springs strolled past Gulfport in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 20-3. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Admirals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
