Edgar lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Stratford, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. The Wildcats blew past the Tigers 10-4 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Leyton Schuett made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Jase Apfelbeck was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Mauer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Edgar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stratford only posted a batting average of .250.
Edgar pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Stratford, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Edgar and Stratford should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Wildcats will challenge Phillips at 4:45 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (113 vs. 370). Meanwhile, Stratford (ranked 79th) will meet Chequamegon (ranked 265th) at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
