Softball Recap: Huron Takes a Loss

Huron dropped their record down to 7-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Old Fort Stockaders, falling 13-2. The Tigers were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Stockaders' pitchers proved too tough.

Old Fort's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Old Fort's part, Adelyn D. and Gabby Perez did most of the damage at the plate: D. got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Perez went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Perez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellie Skeels, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Huron is taking a road trip to square off against Edison at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Old Fort, they will host Calvert at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
