EVERETT, Wash. - the Wildcats scored 27 points in the first quarter to secure a big 41-6 victory over Cedarcrest (Duvall, Wash.) on Saturday.
Archbishop Murphy scored on a
Hans VanderWel touchdown run, a defensive touchdown, a touchdown run by
Alex Galgano and a
Richard Gordon touchdown run in the quarter.
AM was up 34-0 at the half after taking the lead on a VanderWel touchdown run in the first quarter.
The Everett school expanded its lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. The Wildcats scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by VanderWel.
A 27-point first quarter set the table for Archbishop Murphy, which coasted the rest of the way for the victory.
VanderWel played well for AM in the victory. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
The Red Wolves' lone touchdown came on a 46-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats entered the contest giving up 26.3 points per game this year.
A 59-26 Archbishop Murphy victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
With the win AM extended its winning streak to three games.
Archbishop Murphy (5-2) will play a 1A/2A Cascade game against Granite Falls next week, while Cedarcrest (1-7) will take on South Whidbey also in a 1A/2A Cascade game.
