Taos hasn't had much luck against Los Alamos recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hilltoppers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Taos not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 12-2). They put the hurt on Pojoaque Valley with a sharp 12-2 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Elks/Elkettes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Christian Fresquez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Miguel Garcia was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mario Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Los Alamos waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 16-10 margin over the Sundevils. The Hilltoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.
Los Alamos pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Taos, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
Taos might still be hurting after the 17-2 defeat they got from Los Alamos in their previous meeting on Monday. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
