Carlsbad is 6-1 against El Camino since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Carlsbad Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the El Camino Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Carlsbad will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Even though La Costa Canyon scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, Carlsbad still came out on top. Carlsbad walked away with a 41-34 victory over La Costa Canyon. Given Carlsbad's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while La Costa Canyon is ranked 73rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Julian Sayin, who threw for 441 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Griffin Rosenbloom, who picked up 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 39 points the game before, El Camino were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a 21-7 bruising from Mission Hills.
Carlsbad's win bumped their season record to 9-0 while El Camino's loss dropped theirs to 6-3.
Carlsbad didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against El Camino when the teams last played back in September of 2022, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. Will Carlsbad repeat their success, or does El Camino have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
