In what's become a running theme this season, the Niceville Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They put the hurt on Crestview with a sharp 62-36 victory. Given Niceville's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Crestview is ranked 194th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Niceville to victory were Anna Kimball and Carson Fayard. Kimball dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Fayard scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fayard has scored at least a third of Niceville's points. Anabelle Shackelford was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Crestview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Madyson Boydstun. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Toney, who scored eight points.
Niceville pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Crestview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
Niceville and Navarre will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Navarre and Niceville are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Crestview, they will face off against Baldwin County at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Baldwin County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
