Two dominant guards in Jace Tonagel and Grady Carpenter are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Oak Hill Golden Eagles's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Tipton Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, everything went Oak Hill's way against Blackford as Oak Hill made off with a 62-37 victory.
Oak Hill found their leader in underclassman Tonagel, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and seven steals. Tonagel hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Rj Shugart, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Tipton stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Taylor 74-35 at home. The win was familiar territory for Tipton who now have five in a row.
Tipton had a senior duo take command as Nolan Swan scored 19 points along with eight assists and two steals and Jackson Money scored 20 points. It was the first time this season that Swan posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Carpenter, who scored nine points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
Oak Hill has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Tipton, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1.
Fans should be in for an exciting game on Tuesday as the pair are among the highest scoring teams in the league right now. Oak Hill hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57 points per game. However, it's not like Tipton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 69.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Oak Hill strolled past Tipton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 66-49. Does Oak Hill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tipton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
