Mt. Vernon can attribute much of their success to David Barnes, who posted 18 points and six rebounds, and Cale Maurer, who put up seven points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Maurer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brogan Holloway, who earned six points.
Mt. Vernon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Dyett came tearing into Thursday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Spartans 68-45. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Dyett's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Mt. Vernon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
