Given Shelbyville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Rushville is ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shelbyville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 22 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Wilson, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
Rushville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Leonie Boyer, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gracie Buzzard, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Shelbyville has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Rushville, they bumped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Shelbyville will square off against Mt. Vernon at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rushville, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Pendleton Heights at 1:30 p.m.
