The Pickens Academy Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Morgan Academy Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Pickens Academy and seven for Morgan Academy.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-16, which was the final score in Pickens Academy's tilt against Banks Academy on Friday.
Meanwhile, Morgan Academy had to suffer through a rough 49-8 loss at the hands of Glenwood. While losing is never fun, Morgan Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 345th, while Glenwood is ranked 45th).
Despite the loss, Morgan Academy had strong showings from Milton Hand, who picked up 176 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Caden Tellier, who threw for 190 yards and a touchdown.
Pickens Academy's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Jackson Academy and 6-4 Clarke Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.3% over those games). As for Morgan Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Pickens Academy was taken down by Morgan Academy 30-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Pickens Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
