If the Hondo Valley Eagles were feeling good off their 58-23 takedown of the Lake Arthur Panthers on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hondo Valley was the victim of a tough 58-32 defeat at the hands of Gateway Christian on Friday. Hondo Valley lost against Gateway Christian in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-33 score last time.
Among those leading the charge was Ethaniel Wigley, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Munson, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds.
Hondo Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gateway Christian, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Hondo Valley will be playing at home against Clovis Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gateway Christian, they will take on To'hajiilee at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
