Leading Bakersfield Christian to victory were Kolton Thorsen and Talen Mather. Thorsen rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns, while Mather threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Thorsen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Dylan Johnson also helped out with an impressive 112 receiving yards.
Bakersfield Christian now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Highland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Bakersfield Christian will head out on the road to face off against Independence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Independence will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 487th, while Bakersfield Christian is ranked 212th). As for Highland, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ridgeview at 7:30 p.m. Ridgeview is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
