The Pinnacle Timberwolves had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 win over Arrupe Jesuit on Thursday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory The Pinnacle has managed all season.
The Pinnacle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yahir Chavira out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chavira has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Arellano, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Several Generals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ari Cowans, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was David Diaz, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Arrupe Jesuit were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
The Pinnacle's win bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
The Pinnacle will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sheridan at 7:00 p.m. Sheridan comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they will head out on the road to square off against Lake County at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lake County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Arrupe Jesuit likes a good challenge.
