It was a good run, but the Bear Grass Charter Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Columbia. Bear Grass Charter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Columbia apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Columbia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Sawyer out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sawyer has scored at least a third of Columbia's points. Ariyeh Spencer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Bear Grass Charter's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Columbia, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bear Grass Charter will take on Cape Hatteras at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Hatteras is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Columbia, they will play host again and welcome Ocracoke, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
