It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lake Washington had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They never let the West Valley Rams get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Kangaroos, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Shane Johnson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kane Nishikawa was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Lake Washington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Valley, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-3.
As of now, neither Lake Washington nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
