On Saturday, the Salesianum Sallies faced the Sanford Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Salesianum came out on top against Sanford by a score of 62-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Sanford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayden Taylor. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Stephen Conway was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Salesianum's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.2 points per game. As for Sanford, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salesianum will take on Howard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sanford, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Andrew's at 5:30 p.m. Sanford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully St. Andrew's likes a good challenge.
