The Ridgemont Golden Gophers lost to the North Baltimore Tigers back in January of 2016, but the Ridgemont Golden Gophers didn't allow the North Baltimore Tigers the same satisfaction on Thursday. Ridgemont escaped with a win against the Tigers by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgemont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylie Shreve, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Shreve hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruth Eckstein, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mackenna Ducat, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Ducat hasn't dropped below two blocks for ten straight games. Kaylee Allison was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, North Baltimore were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Ridgemont's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14. As for North Baltimore, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgemont will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kenton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Golden Gophers in Ohio (the Wildcats are ranked 374th, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 772nd). As for North Baltimore, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
