The team relied heavily on Logan Sierks, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Auburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairbury only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Rock Port waltzed into their matchup on Monday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Knights. The Blue Jays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.
Corbyn Jakub made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Westyn Amthor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Tayden Cook was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
Auburn is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Rock Port, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Auburn has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rock Port struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
