Baseball Game Preview: Clearwater Tornadoes vs. Anclote Sharks

Clearwater has gone a perfect 3-0 against Anclote recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tornadoes are taking a road trip to take on the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Clearwater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Clearwater and Countryside had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Tornadoes took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Thursday.

Dylan Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Clearwater saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Alfredo, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Anclote didn't have quite enough to beat Pinellas Park on Thursday and fell 4-3. The Sharks haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Anclote also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Anthony Ramos gave up just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks.

Clearwater's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-7. As for Anclote, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Anclote's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clearwater hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. It's a different story for Anclote, though, as they've only averaged .215. Will they be able to contain Clearwater's hitters?

Clearwater was able to grind out a solid win over Anclote in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-0. Do the Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sharks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
