Basketball Recap: Salisbury Falls Despite Big Games from Hayleigh Galeone and Allie Collins

Salisbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-34 heartbreaker at the hands of Salisbury Christian. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Salisbury Christian earlier this season, when they won 44-37.

Salisbury's loss came despite strong showings from Allie Collins and Hayleigh Galeone. Collins posted ten points and six boards, while Galeone went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points. The dominant performance also gave Galeone a new career-high in blocks (two). Sydney Matyiko also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Salisbury's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Salisbury Christian, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-9.

Salisbury will take on Sts. Peter & Paul at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salisbury Christian, they will challenge The Gunston School at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
