St. Joseph Academy got themselves on the board against Bell County on Monday, but Bell County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Flashes have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
St. Joseph Academy got a great performance from Neil Gornto as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Gornto has posted since March 4th.
On the hitting side, Connor Lewis was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Dayton Taylor was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
St. Joseph Academy's record is now 15-3-1. As for Bell County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-2.
Looking ahead, St. Joseph Academy will venture away from home to face off against Episcopal School of Jacksonville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bell County, they will head out on the road to square off against Menendez at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Menendez has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
