For the first time this season, Doherty will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rampart Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Doherty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Doherty turned things around against Southridge on Friday. They came out on top against the Skyhawks by a score of 7-4.

Dominick Morelli was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derek Graham, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Doherty is undefeated when Graham posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Aharon Enriquez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Rampart hadn't beaten Coronado on the road since April 7, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. Rampart came out on top in a nail-biter against Coronado, sneaking past 4-3. The four-run effort marked the Rams' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Like Doherty, Rampart also got a great game from a two-way player: Justus Derickson. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Derickson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Doherty's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Rampart, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Doherty has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rampart struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Doherty was able to grind out a solid victory over Rampart when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 14-11. Does Doherty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rampart turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
