3A Region 6 recap October 29, 2013
Morton was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in 3A Region 6. Earlier in the week, the Panthers defeated McLaurin 38-14.
Collins extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Velma Jackson, 32-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
M.J. McLaurin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Collins topped the Falcons. He completed 14 passes for 179 yards and also ran for 103 yards. McLaurin's key target this week was Calvin Keys, who caught 7 passes for 71 yards.
Deyton Lingle threw for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 13-16 with 1 interception.
Raheem Davis was the best wideout in the league this week as Morton defeated the Tigers. Davis racked up 6 receptions for 136 yards. Tyree Mcaroy helped Morton's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 60 yards.
Kris Pickle's team's Lingle and Davis led 3A Region 6 in both passing and receiving yards. Lingle has thrown for 2,159 yards this season, while Davis has 39 catches for 830 yards. Emanuel Ross from Velma Jackson leads the league in rushing with 1,123 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Collins takes on second place Morton. Ryan Earnest's team topped Cedrick Wilder's team last week, while the Panthers defeated McLaurin.
The Falcons lost to the Tigers 32-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
