The Lamar County Trojans will face off against the Towers Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lamar County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Lamar County gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against McNair by a score of 35-22. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Mustangs are ranked 368th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ross Hamrick was his usual excellent self, rushing for 104 yards and a pair of scores.
Lamar County didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited McNair to a completion percentage of just 46.7%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Kaden Carter, Kenyae Barnes, Jayden Doctor, and Elijah McKenzie, who each logged one passes deflected. Lamar County hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.38 or higher in three consecutive games.
Lamar County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Doctor and Joshua McDade. Carter was another major factor on D, forcing three fumbles, making seven total tackles, and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Towers made sure to put some points up on the board against Southeast Whitfield County on Friday. The Titans walked away with a 33-24 victory over the Raiders. Considering the Titans' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Lamar County pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.9 points over those games. As for Towers, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Everything came up roses for Lamar County against Towers in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-12 win. In that matchup, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 34-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
