Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask D'Evelyn). Everything went their way against the Standley Lake Gators on Tuesday as D'Evelyn made off with a 14-4 victory. The Jaguars not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024.
Ryan Kim made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Kim was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jack Meiser and Chase Beardsley did most of the damage at the plate: Meiser scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Beardsley scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Meiser has posted since back in May of 2024. Cameron McLetchie was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
D'Evelyn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Standley Lake only posted an OBP of .323.
D'Evelyn's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Standley Lake, they dropped their record down to 3-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. D'Evelyn will head out to challenge Windsor at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. D'Evelyn will need to watch out since Windsor has now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Standley Lake, they will square off against Conifer at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
