On Thursday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Columbia Academy made off with a 53-52 win over Fairview. The win made it back-to-back wins for Columbia Academy.
Columbia Academy found their leader in underclassman Reese Shirley, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Shirley's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charley Rae Hutchison, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Columbia Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Fairview, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbia Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Providence Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Providence Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Columbia Academy in Tennessee (Providence Christian Academy is ranked 31st, while Columbia Academy is ranked 257th). As for Fairview, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m.
