Lowell hasn't had much luck against Andrean recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will challenge the Fighting 59ers at 7:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Lowell didn't have quite enough to beat Kankakee Valley and fell 3-2.
Lowell took Kankakee Valley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-27, 22-25, 16-14.
Meanwhile, Andrean got the win against Munster on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Fighting 59ers have posted against the Mustangs since September 6, 2022.
One reason for the win was Andrean's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-18, 25-13.
Andrean's win came from a few key players Lowell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emmy Ramirez, who had seven digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September. Paige Podkul was another key player, getting 16 digs.
Lowell now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Andrean, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-14.
Lowell suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Andrean in their previous meeting back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Fighting 59ers' Dani Poskin, who had 27 digs and three assists. Now that the Red Devils know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
