Williamsburg Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against Bethesda Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Williamsburg Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Beaufort Academy 41-6 at home. With Williamsburg Academy ahead 34-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Williamsburg Academy relied on the efforts of Conrad Balder, who threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and Camden Moore, who gained 176 total yards and four touchdowns. JD Sholar was in the mix too, providing Williamsburg Academy with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bethesda Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Northside Christian Academy with a sharp 32-6 victory. Bethesda Academy pushed the score to 32-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Northside Christian Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Noah Jenkins was his usual excellent self, rushing for 144 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Jenkins was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.
Williamsburg Academy pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Palmetto Christian Academy and 1-9 King's Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 40.4% over those games). As for Bethesda Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Williamsburg Academy commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.8 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Bethesda Academy struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.8 per game.
