Basketball Recap: Mount Olive Christian Takes a Loss

Mount Olive Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Acadiana Christian Lions, falling 55-28. Mount Olive Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-11.

Mount Olive Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Riley Morrow, who posted five points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Morrow is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Abby Rodgers, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Acadiana Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yvette Olivier, who went 12 of 23 on her way to 30 points and five steals. The matchup was Olivier's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Polk, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Mount Olive Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Acadiana Christian, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Mount Olive Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-34 defeat against John Paul the Great Academy on the 3rd. As for Acadiana Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-49 loss against NELA Christian Homeschool on the 3rd.
