The Challenger Firebirds will head out on the road to square off against the Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Challenger beat Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy 57-51. The win was just what Challenger needed coming off of a 64-36 defeat in their prior contest.
Kendall Reinhardt was the offensive standout of the game as he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 23 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Annis, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They really took it to Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-37 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy has posted yet this season.
Challenger's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Challenger skirted past Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy 41-38 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Challenger since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
