Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mission Bay). Everything went their way against the Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets on Saturday as Mission Bay made off with a 10-1 victory. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Abby Nelson was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kassie Zavala was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Evie Horton, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Mission Bay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests.
