Baseball Game Preview: Stoutland Tigers vs. Halfway Cardinals

Stoutland has gone a perfect 3-0 against Halfway recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will face off against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Stoutland's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Halfway's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Stoutland and Laquey, and Stoutland kept the tradition alive. The Tigers walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Hornets on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Will Morrow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Stoutland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Franklin, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Austin Pribble was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Halfway entered their tilt with Appleton City on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 11-6.

Halfway's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Stoutland, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Stoutland skirted past Halfway 6-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
