The Starkville Academy Volunteers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They lost to Heritage Academy on the road by a decisive 47-33 margin. Starkville Academy has not had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Starkville Academy saw an underclassman step up: Raylee Jones scored four points along with six rebounds.
Starkville Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season. As for Heritage Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Starkville Academy will take on the Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Magnolia Heights will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Volunteers are ranked 64th). As for Heritage Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. Pillow Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
