The Etowah Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the North Paulding Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Paulding took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Etowah, who comes in off a win.
Etowah took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 40-27 victory over Cherokee. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Zeke Douglass was his usual excellent self, rushing for 147 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Walker Hughes made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Etowah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 244 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Etowah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nate Truitt, Phoenix Caesar, and Hughes picked up one apiece. Caesar has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last four times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, North Paulding scored first but ultimately less than North Cobb in their contest last Friday. They fell 24-17 to the Warriors. The Wolfpack haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Etowah will have to contain Tyler Niehr as he made an impact in North Paulding's last game. He threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns.
The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Etowah, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Etowah has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 191 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Paulding struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 255.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Etowah ended up a good deal behind North Paulding in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, losing 34-17. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Wolfpack's James Skelly, who rushed for 173 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry.
