The Carson Cougars's 17-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They snuck past Statesville with a 51-45 win. Carson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Carson found their leader in underclassman Rylee Hedrick, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hedrick scored 15 or more points. Emma Carpenter was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Carson's victory ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-13. As for Statesville, their loss was their 16th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carson will challenge Concord at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Concord focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday. As for Statesville, Statesville and St. Stephens will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. Stephens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
