Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A District 4 this week, Clay beat Pensacola Catholic 9-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Blue Devils.
Clay moved up to 35 from 65 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Josh Hoekstra's team was able to move up by topping the Crusaders 9-7.
6-foot-1 quarterback Zach Wawrzyniak of Ponte Vedra is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,100. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is JT Turner. The Clay star has 27 catches for 496 yards.
The Blue Devils' Wes Weeks is a mere 43 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 168 carries Weeks has put up 957 yards this year.
Clay and Pensacola Catholic played the closest game in the league this week, with Clay eventually emerging with a 9-7 victory. Weeks threw for 35 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 63 yards in the win.
