The Midland Trail Patriots will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Wyoming East Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Midland Trail has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Midland Trail is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since May 8, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past Greenbrier West 8-6. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won four in a row.

Madison Rader spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, Nevaeh Hall was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Presley Walker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wyoming East came up short against Liberty on Tuesday and fell 19-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost three in a row.
Alivia Monroe and Carlee Rollins stepped up to the plate in a big way. Monroe went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Rollins went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Cook, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.
Even though they lost, Wyoming East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted a batting average of .250.
Wyoming East's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Midland Trail, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Midland Trail couldn't quite get it done against Wyoming East when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 21-16. Can Midland Trail avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
