After flying high against the Broken Bow Indians on Saturday, the Minden Whippets came back down to earth. The game between Minden and Central City wasn't particularly close, with Minden falling 55-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Minden has scored all season.
Several Whippets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kade Dorszynski, who scored 11 points. The match was Dorszynski's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Ryan, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Ayden Zikmund continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central City, scoring 14 points along with six assists and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Zikmund has scored at least 25% of Central City's points. Blake Jensen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Minden's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Central City, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Minden will head out on the road to face off against Elm Creek at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. Elm Creek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.8 points per game. Central City will be home for the holidays to greet Doniphan-Trumbull at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Doniphan-Trumbull's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
