Dansville has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Dansville beat Saranac 66-62. With that win, Dansville brought their scoring average up to 50.9 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dansville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drew Frantz, who scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Frantz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Neal, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Pewamo-Westphalia came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 70-62 win over Fowler. Given Pewamo-Westphalia's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Fowler is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dansville pushed their record up to 10-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Pewamo-Westphalia, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
Dansville took a serious blow against Pewamo-Westphalia in their previous matchup back in January, falling 74-39. Can Dansville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
