The biggest upset of the week belonged to Toms River South, who took down 94th ranked Brick Memorial, 41-20.
Lacey Township extended the longest winning streak in Shore - South A this week by beating Brick Township, 6-3. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Lacey Township's dynamic duo of Conor Davies and Bill Belford proved tough for the Green Dragons to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davies threw for 118 yards and one touchdown and Belford had 70 yards receiving. Kyle Spatz helped Lacey Township's passing attack out by catching one ball for 27 yards.
Abe Gonzalez was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 185 yards on 30 carries as Southern Regional beat Brick Township. Teammate Rob Yaiser added to the ground attack by rushing for 43 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Tom Kelly and Spatz the Lions have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Kelly leads the league in passing with 1037 yards, while Spatz has rushed for 969 yards this season. The Rams' Mike Gesicki leads the league in receiving yards with 456 on 27 catches.
Lacey Township's Spatz needs only 31 yards against the Mustangs next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brick Memorial takes on the Lions. As it stands, Walter Currie's team is in fourth, while Lacey Township is in first.
The Indians moved up to 124 from 157 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Shore - South A. Toms River South climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Mustangs 41-20.
